250 Series

Provides fast, reliable detection of ferrous metals through all non-ferrous materials with high precision.

The 250 Series Ferrous Metal Proximity Sensors deliver highly precise, localized detection of ferrous metals through non-ferrous materials like aluminum, air, or water, with an ideal sensing distance of 0.07 - 0.9 inches for standard ferrous targets.

Output options include analog-only voltage or a combination of digital and analog signals, allowing for versatile integration into various systems.

Available in multiple configurations, the series includes our standard A75Q housing and the AFM model—a 90-degree flange-mount housing with four flexible mounting positions.

Electrical Options

Analog Only

Type-AP-Model.png

Our Analog Output sensors generate a baseline voltage of 1 V in the absence of a ferrous metal target. As a target approaches the sensor face, the output voltage increases proportionally. The magnitude of this increase is dependent on both the size of the target and its proximity to the sensing face—larger and closer targets yield higher output voltages.

Analog Sensing Range:
.05 - 1.3 Inches
Ideal Sensing Range:
.07 - 0.9 Inches

Our smallest analog sensors provide detection over the smallest distance – .05″ to 1.3″ from a large steel plate – offering more precise detection of a target with other ferrous metals nearby.

Analog and Digital

Type-DP-Model.png

Our Digital Output Sensors feature an additional discrete switched-transistor digital output. When a ferrous target approaches the sensor face and exceeds a defined threshold, the digital output changes state. This trigger point is user-adjustable across a configurable detection range, allowing for application-specific sensitivity tuning.

Standard Trigger Distance:
0.35 Inches

Digital Options:

Our digital output sensors have an additional option of an NPN or PNP output.

NPN (3K pull-up resistor)

3K-Model.png

Our NPN digital output starts HIGH- approximately 11.8 Volts DC at a supply voltage of 12 Volts - with no target present. At a gap of 0.35 inches, the discrete digital signal switches LOW - approximately 1 volt.

PNP (Open Collector)

PO-Model.png

Our open-collector PNP digital output starts LOW- approximately 11.8 Volts DC at a supply voltage of 12 Volts - with no target present, mirroring the analog output. At a gap of 0.35 inches, the discrete digital signal switches HIGH - approximately 1 volt, the opposite of the NPN version.
